As copied from the MA forums by JJ:
So far there has been a great deal of interest generated.. and in the spirit of keeping that momentum going I am starting this thread here to help anyone interested in getting in on the 2012 moped racing get prepared and properly geared up.
We hope to use the first race date to safety/ tech inspect bikes and gear, and as a non points practice weekend. I know it is raining right now, but don't let it fool you, the first date is less than two months out and will be here sooner than you realize.
I am happy to announce we have the McMinville track available for 8 weekends this year!
The format will be Saturday open practice, then Sunday racing.
Dates:
March 17/18 Practice/tech weekend
April 14/15 Points race 1
May 26/27 points race 2
June 9/10 points race 3
July 14/15 Points race 4
Aug 24/25 Points race 5
Sep 29/30 Points race 6
Oct 27/28 optional non-points race weekend
If you are building a bike right now please take a minute to post up a little info about your build, where you are in your progress, and what parts or help you might need. Also it would help if you can post your height, weight, boot and glove size, and what gear you still need. If you are not sure what size leathers you need, go down to cycle gear and try a few sets on to get a gauge for what fits. I will post links here to used gear that you can pick up pretty cheap.
For gear: Full leathers, ( one piece or a full zip two piece)
Boots (leather, above the ankle.)
Gauntlet Gloves ( cover the full wrist)
Snell rated 2005 helmet.
Some of us have gear we used last year that can be had for cheap or free. We also will be sourcing out some affordable snell helmets that we can order through the shop.
Jesse and I over at P-town are organizing the moped racing this year.. and we are committed to helping as many people who want to race mopeds with us to show up prepared to have a good and safe time on the track. Please don't hesitate to let us know how we can help you!
Looking forward to an epic race season!
We will be running two separate classes this year for mopeds: a open variated class and a single/two speed auto class. All of the other rules apply as usual.
