Pat - Sorry to hear about the cylinder. I have a spare Malossi jug if you need it.
Dayn - It's a TM28. Will be trying to hit the too-rich point this afternoon with even bigger jets. It seemed to run better with smaller jets, but then I didn't really take time to get it to full operating temp. It ran quite a bit longer on the second run.
JJ - If all else fails I'll block the breather and see if that helps. As new as these seals are though, I hope I've not popped one already...

Hey Mike I also run TM28's
Do you have a Q series atomizer in it? I'm running a Q-0 with a stock needle @ 2nd from the top 17.5 Pilot and anywhere from 180 to 195 main.
Hope that helps.

Think I have my issue figured out. Yesterday afternoon I was having trouble getting a steady idle after running up and down the street at speeds I'm sure my neighbors appreciate, and I noticed that the cable adjuster in the carb lid was missing the locknut. It has been rotating out, putting more tension on the cable and taking up more than just slack. Once it was turned back down, the idle went back to normal. Currently running a 35 idle which seems perfect and 240 main, which may yet need to be increased somewhat. All around much better to ride. I'm not sure which atomizer, but most likely the original. Added an air filter which unfortunately seems to slow the bike down slightly. Maybe a bigger one is needed, already on order. Ah the joy of the cut-down. Rain water sprayed at me from front and back, need to fab some fenders! Thanks for the input guys Mike Hey Mike I also run TM28's Do you have a Q series atomizer in it? Hey Mike,
I can't stress enough how important it is to have the right atomizer in those carbs. The stock one does not protrude enough which is a bit of a problem on the relatively low primary compression of these motors. Mine also had the same issues that you are having and it also explain why your getting was so big.

Track day fail.
Had fuel starvation issues, and when I thought I had it straightened out, I had scary clunking sounds in the bottom end issues. There will be a tear down to investigate and a re-plumbing of my fuel system in my near future. Happy happy, joy joy.

Dayn - Track day proved to be a success without swapping anything out. After fixing the carb lid adjuster I had no further issues. Ran very well and made more power than I could get to the ground. Aside from a larger main (35/240 at present) and some needle adjustments I'll not be changing anything. I would be curious to try a different atomizer though if you have any recommendations.
Anybody good with with a TIG? After skipping the silencer off the pavement twice, I've determined it's in the wrong place! Want to convert it to right hand exit.
Thanks,
Mike
