I love Responsiblejon's response. I think the PSRA isn’t just about what goes on out on the track. It's about what happens in the Pits and in our garages and sheds. If we have a large ridership then sticking to the word of the rules is fair. With just a few racers in each class it's hard to tell someone to leave their bike at home because of a technicality. Let’s all keep racing together and as we grow the classes will naturally define themselves. If we need to create new classes or modify existing ones it should happen out of necessity not a technicality. Our main goal should be to encourage new racers to come out and bring whatever contraption they can make roll on two wheels.
No I’m not biased because I own a Revolution. I won’t be racing it. Ok not planning on racing it.

Well, if no one cares then let it run. I don't want to this to come down to who can spend the most money on a bike or find the most obscure parts in order to compete. That's what takes the fun out of it and why Polini cup faltered.

Rules is rules & that's pretty cool. If I can play devil's advocate for a moment... My smallframe vespa that I race was indeed registered in Oregon as a moped & still had the 50 Special nameplate on the back. I rode it around as a 50 for about 18 months. They did make a model with pedals... mine just didn't come with 'em. - And most people took 'em off anyway. In my eyes, that could also be construed as 'in the spirit of a moped'... How's about I come race with you guys in moped class on that thing? That'd be pretty cool, right? ;D ;D ;D In closing that thought - I'll finish by also liking responsiblejon's comment. I also wanna see more people out there. I say bring it!

Hey guys, I just read your (long) thread on MA about the Derbi Rev motor. Wow, really beating a dead horse. Interesting though, as I am right in the middle of racing out my Revolution. Still no plans to race it, just burn around the neighborhood.
Anyway, anyone have a lead on a larger front sproket for this thing? Even if i have to custom a different brand I need to match the chain pitch. Any thoughts?
Oh yeah, currently... custom pipe, metra 50cc kit (matched the cases on the weekend), cr80 reed & custom manifold, 24mm oko carb, puch hi-rev cdi. Got Dr Pulley rollers on order.

Speaking of links.... www.mopedcentral.com/images/DerbiEngineRepair.pdfHere is a link for the repair manual for a derbi variant flat reed "start" engine. If you skip to page 23 (near the end) you find the schematic for the "Variant pedal shaft". I don't know about you but this looks like the schematic for the optional PEDAL VERSION of a variant flat reed start motor. Does that mean it's a moped?

Sorry, go to www.1977mopeds.com and do a quick search, they have tons of derbi stuff they bought out from handybikes. What size sprocket do you have on there now?

Currently 13 tooth looking for 16 tooth. The description on 1977 doesn't say and there is no picture either. They never answer their stinkin' phone so I'm a bit put off by 1977.

1977 is a satellite shop now, they are drop shipping nearly everything from different vendors. The sprockets are at handybikes, try calling them directly. you also might try the moped army buy and sell. there are a few dudes who hoard derbi stuff there.

JJ, if you lived any closer I'd come over and give you a big hug.
They don't have any derbi front sprokets but they do have puch sprokets that match the 415 chain. I think I'm going to pick up a 17 tooth and just weld and machine the center to match my shaft. That sounds funny.
Thanks for the help. BTW, no response to my contribution on the derbi moped vrs scooter topic?
