really simple. i got some ideas. they stem from racing for 2 years with you guys and many years of racing experience (as well as winning several supersport and superbike races/championships on the National and State series. It has given me a unique perspective on how many different highly professional series are run and what works fairly across the board... More specifically in so far as what concerns classes, points, and scheduling in particular as it pertains to scooter racing.
I think we should do double points (2 races for points) for the Overall Open race on the last weekend. I know i tried to get this going for Medford, and it could be a big nightmare for anyone one with mechanical issues... ( read .. me) and i may not be able to race at the Mac Track.. but i think its still a good idea.. It seemed like the majority were up for it in Medford, save for some attendance issues. Now the idea i had for it was Originally because we hadn't had very many races to decide the championship, and there have been some that had teething problems in the first races ( ie Patrick) or didn't even finish... and that would allow for more fun!
As well, I thought that it would be nice to let the racing decide our Championship and not mechanicals, or travel issues.
Now that seems like it would be in my favor to suggest this now for sure seeing how i missed last weeken, but for all i know i dont have a bike to ride. that is not the issue.
i think its in all of our favors to step our game, to learn a track and race it. to build ride able bikes that last longer than a few laps, so we can ride more.. and let the the combined tuner/rider skills come to fruition on the track.. not in DNFs.
You are way more focused when you don't have a heat race, most often we are only using it as a test .. or like me.. i am only doing it so i dont start last on the grid. its a waste of my sponsors equipment, precious motor time and money for a few feet of track to line up to race for points. I would rather race for points. the more races the better, it evens the playing field, we get a better overall average, that makes for closer racing overall for the year.
A full day of Practice is fine and more than sufficient to what EVERY club to international series do.
Implementing this type of design would allow riders with one bike to race more, and riders with more bikes to ride more races on their separate bikes.
I have some ideas on how to organize our series to be fair and increase exciting seat time on track for our money.
a test for this could be the last race of the year.
IMO Heat races need to go away. for instance we could do something like this...
we should have a Heat race for each class the FIRST race weekend of the year, and ONLY one race for points for each class..... That allows you extra dialing in time, and from there on out..
Starting on the second race ( and this is how we could do Mac track) of the weekend heat races that the classes and overall normally run should be should be for points with the GRID positions for all the races being decided by the season overall points.
that would mean Dayn is on pole after practice... then Noji, i think either patrick or me third.... bla bla bla...
you get the idea...
waddaya think?
