Hi ya'll My name is Kyle,
I work at Urban Wasp/Vespa Vancouver and just wanted to pop by and introduce a little bit about myself.
I'm currently working at Urban Wasp so if ya need some parts (More on the modern scooter) come on by and see me 1535 West 4th Ave.
I am currently evolved with Club racing at the WMRC competing in the Intermediate class on a 2001 GSXR-600
my first love however was a 2005 Derbi Bullet and for years have always dreamed of what it would be like to race scooters.
I do have a question about the helmets though
Some of the newer helmets coming out are not Snell approved they are now both DOT and ECE R22.05 Certified. (Scorpion EXO-750) Would the ECE certification be good for the races or do i need to start looking for a new helmet?
Finally whens the Next meeting in Vancouver to discuss the upcoming season?
Hey Kyle, welcome aboard. Looks like you fall in our neck of the woods (Vancouver). You'll see lots of posts from Dayn and I, we are both in the Van area along with several other racers.
Not sure about the helmet question. Maybe someone else can chime in on this. I think if you feel safe with your helmet then wear it.
We jsut had a meeting with some new racers that are getting ready for the upcoming season. Nothing we can't convey through the forum or email though. Most likely will be arranging something else soon including some practice sessions when the weather gets warmer.
It's great you are already a veteran to racing. We are finding that experienced guys can make small bikes really haul ass. Also, there isn't much difference with scooter racing except the track is smaller and the corners are tighter.
We have been mostly vintage bikes up till last year but like Europe, auto's are coming on strong. We have several new racers working on auto race bikes and we have couple of really fast autos that blow people away now. One of our racers was on a smokin' fast derbi bullit. It's changed hands but will be back on the track with us this year.
Feel free to post whatever here and email us as well. We are (name)@pacificscooterracing.com. It would be great if you could come out and race with us this year.
