Hello,
My name is Jeff and I have been racing motorcycles for the last 25 plus years, both on the dragstrip and the road course at PIR. My friend and I have been checking into your organization since last year and we think it would be a blast to give it a try. We are both currently in search of a couple scooters to take out and throw down with you guy's. We very much like the way your organization is setup and we think the "Bring It Out And We'll Find A place For You" attitude is awesome. Now to my question, in your rules you state that helmets must be Snell 2007 approved, but Snell only has a 2005 and 2010 approval they do not have a 2007. Would a 2005 approval be acceptable? Looking foward to meeting you at the races.
ThanxMuch Jeff

Hi there Jeff. Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the interest! What kind of bikes are you guys looking for? As far as helmet stuff - '05 is a bit on the old side. I'd say stick with '07 or newer.

Thanks for the reply, I guess we'll try to get a couple lids with the Snell 2010 cert. As far as scooters we were looking at maybe Honda Aero 50's or 80's or possibly the Yamaha zuma 50.
Thanx Jeff

Nice! I've heard good things about using Zumas as a platform. There's a fantastic rider in our group riding a Honda. Those things are no joke. I've seen Zumas come & go on CL for pretty cheap. Also... I dunno what your budget is like... We've got a few Zuma clones (Benelli) at my work that I know they're trying to blow out right now. Might be able to get a brand new machine on the relative cheap. I would reeeally like to see someone ride the bejeezus out of one of those things. ;D ;D

LOL i have edited this like 5 times trying to find all the articles, the information was kinda rattlen around my brain ya know ? Hey Patrick do you mean 2007 and newer year helmet right? Not snell 2007; snell 2005, and 2010 are the correct ratings. There was an article about the new 2010 rating in the NY times and Motor Cyclist, the writer was fired over it i do believe. Here are the snell ratings (2007 rating is for kids and doesn't apply.), and then the two articles on helmets. It is interesting when you learn about helmet construction, and then the politics. This is one of the reasons why I got a new helmet it isnt Snell or Dot approved. It is however very safe and cutting edge design (if its good enough for moto gp and moto 2 and world superbike its good enough for me!, and it is the lightest thing ever. Tech better approve it! ;D www.smf.org/stdswww.nytimes.com/2009/09/27/au...NELL.html?_r=1jalopnik.com/5582380/how-the-...yline=true&s=i
