The weather was perfect, the track was awesome, and the people were excited. Four mopeds for the moped class, Eric Sabatino on his 103, JJ on his Batavus revolution, Josh Jontig on the Radabout, and me on my AV7 40T. Practice was a bit hectic with cart rentals, 125cc shifter karts, motards, and us all fighting for space on the track but later in the day everyone else got tired so we had the run of the place till dark. Everyones bikes were performing strong but I blew a piston up about half and hour into the practice. Luckily Caleb had a piston I could borrow and I ran back to the shop to rebuild my motor. Even got back with enough time to get some practice before dusk. Then we all camped out and drank beers because that's how you do it.
The heat for the moped class was a small grid so we let some other riders come out. An MB5 and a 7 year old kid on a pocket bike. Heat results where me, Eric, JJ, and then Josh. They also let whoever sign up for mini dirt class so Josh went out and raced through the motard section, breaking his chain after the first heat. They scheduled the moped race one of the last of the day so we didn't get back on the track for the main until about 4. Main race was exciting with me finishing first, Eric second, JJ third, and Josh DNF when his chain broke again in the second lap. Eric and my bike performed great but JJ's belt was slipping and it was down on power and getting slower every lap. Everyone did a great job racing this weekend but next time the rest of you better show up.
So for those keeping score at home here is the season's point standings
1. JJ Herzog - 41 points
2. Eric Sabatino - 40 ponts
3. Jesse Stephenson - 25 points
4. Josh Jontig - 0
See you all at PGP next month. Or any of the other races that are still scheduled in the local area. That means you Seattle.
